NANS Southwest Zone D has commended the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, for fulfilling commitments made over the reinstatement of affected students and the resolution of outstanding NYSC mobilisation issues.

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS Southwest Zone D, has praised the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, for what it described as responsive and student-centred leadership.

In a statement issued on September 7, 2026, the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as Billioncodes, said the commendation followed the reinstatement of some students previously affected by rustication and the resolution of prolonged National Youth Service Corps mobilisation challenges involving Adedoyin Temitope, popularly known as Aregbe, and other graduates.

According to Adeyemo, the student leadership had earlier engaged the Vice-Chancellor over the circumstances surrounding the affected students.

He said Prof. Asaolu assured the delegation that the cases would receive compassionate consideration and that efforts would also be made to address the outstanding NYSC mobilisation concerns.

Adeyemo said the affected students were subsequently reinstated, while confirmation had now been received from the Directorate of Student Affairs that Adedoyin Temitope and other affected graduates had been successfully uploaded to the NYSC Senate List.

“For us, this is more than an administrative update. It means that young people whose futures appeared uncertain can now move forward with the next stage of their lives,” the NANS Coordinator said.

He noted that student leaders must be willing not only to criticise institutions when necessary but also to acknowledge university administrators who respond positively to legitimate concerns.

Adeyemo described the development as evidence of the importance of constructive engagement between university management and the organised student movement.

He expressed appreciation to Prof. Asaolu, the University Management, the Directorate of Student Affairs and other officials whose efforts contributed to resolving the matters.

The NANS Southwest leadership also congratulated the affected students, particularly Adedoyin Temitope, urging them to make responsible use of the opportunity as they proceed to the next stage of their lives.

“A promise made to students has become a promise kept. For that, Prof. Asaolu, we say thank you,” Adeyemo stated.

He further expressed hope that the University of Ilesa would continue to record greater progress under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor.
