Student leaders, class governors and departmental representatives of the Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, have expressed confidence in Provost Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, calling for a fair and evidence-based assessment of allegations concerning his administration.
The representatives made their position known in a joint statement issued on October 10, 2026, following recent petitions and publications containing allegations of maladministration, financial impropriety and other concerns relating to the College.
The signatories argued that allegations should not be equated with established findings, urging stakeholders to allow the relevant authorities to examine the claims through appropriate procedures.
They cited reported developments in the institution’s academic and practical training facilities, including the ICT Centre, Medical Imaging Laboratory, X-Ray Imaging Laboratory, Dispensing Opticianry Laboratory and Dental Clinic.
Other improvements identified in the statement included computer procurement, ICT infrastructure upgrades, auditorium renovation, library improvements and efforts towards programme accreditation.
The statement also highlighted an inspection visit to the institution on October 7, 2026. The delegation was led by NANS National Financial Secretary, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, and included NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, alongside other student representatives.
According to the statement, the visit enabled the delegation to inspect facilities and observe developments within the College.
Addressing allegations involving prospective students, medical laboratory services and hostel payments, the signatories disputed the claims as presented in recent publications. They said they were not aware of a blanket policy compelling students to use a particular private laboratory or pay the alleged ₦100,000 hostel fee.
They maintained that claims of coercion or diversion should be supported by verifiable evidence before being attributed to the Provost as established facts.
The student representatives called on Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Commissioner for Education and the College’s Governing Council to consider the perspectives of students in any assessment of the institution’s leadership.
They also urged all stakeholders to protect academic activities, accreditation efforts and institutional stability while the allegations are addressed.
The statement ended with a vote of confidence in Raheem, based on the signatories’ assessment of the institution’s reported developmental progress.
The joint statement was signed by the following student leaders, association officers and representatives:
- Dist. Sen. Comr. Badiru Rohees Olawale (Moore) — President, Students’ Union Government (SUG), OSCO-HEALTH.
- Obajolu Oluwagbenga — President, National Association of Health Information Management Students (NAHIMS).
