The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest Zone D has formally called on the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to escalate national advocacy for the release of abducted students and teachers in Oyo State.
In a statement signed by Zonal Coordinator Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncodes), the association described the continued captivity of students in Oriire Local Government as a painful reminder of Nigeria’s security challenges.
“The Situation Demands More”
While acknowledging ongoing efforts by security agencies, NANS stated that rescue operations must not slow down until every student is accounted for.
The association urged the First Lady to:
- Use her platform to elevate the urgency of the crisis
- Advocate for improved intelligence-driven security measures
- Strengthen protective frameworks around rural schools
Beyond Oyo: A National Pattern
NANS Tribune understands that the Southwest leadership views the Oyo incident as part of a broader pattern of insecurity targeting schools across Nigeria.
The association warned that continued attacks on schools threaten:
- National stability
- Youth development
- Educational continuity
- Community confidence in governance
Standing in Solidarity
NANS Southwest declared unwavering solidarity with the families of abducted students and teachers, promising continued advocacy until their safe return is secured.
The message was clear:
The safety of Nigerian students is non-negotiable.
