The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has called for an immediate and independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Miss Osunlakin Grace, a final-year student of the College of Law, Osun State University (UNIOSUN), Ifetedo Campus.

In a statement issued by the Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncodes), the student body expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased, the College of Law, the Students’ Union, and the entire university community over the tragic loss.

NANS Southwest stated that reports received from student leaders indicated that the deceased allegedly suffered a medical emergency and was initially taken to the university clinic before being referred to another medical facility outside Osun State for further treatment.

The association noted that allegations relating to the emergency medical response, the availability of healthcare personnel, and the operational status of the campus clinic at the time of the incident require urgent and transparent examination by the appropriate authorities.

According to the statement, NANS Southwest has commenced a fact-finding process that will involve engagements with students, faculty representatives, the Students’ Union, and the university management in an effort to establish the facts surrounding the unfortunate incident.

The student body further urged the management of Osun State University to constitute an independent investigative panel and make its findings available to the public, stressing that accountability must be ensured should any form of negligence, misconduct, or institutional lapse be established.

NANS Southwest emphasized that the pursuit of justice in the matter is not only important for the memory of the deceased but also necessary to strengthen confidence in the welfare and safety mechanisms available to students within tertiary institutions.

The association also called for a comprehensive review of healthcare facilities, emergency response systems, referral procedures, and medical infrastructure across all campuses of the university to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Reaffirming its commitment to students’ welfare, NANS Southwest assured stakeholders that it would continue to monitor developments closely and advocate for transparency, accountability, and improved healthcare standards within higher institutions across the region.

To be sincere with ourselves,I personally I'm not saying this out of hatred for my school I'm saying it because we really need to talk about it.When we're talking about healthcare in ifetedo campus, poor is an understatement it has failed.
Imagine going to the clinic to complain about your health and they're asking you foolish questions like "who broke your heart"howwww
Imagine promoting someone from security guard to go and be working in the clinic how the hell do they correspond
The truth is that the school management really need to look into healthcare in ifetedo campus, the fact that osogbo campus is the main campus doesn't mean it's the only campus in uniosun
You're with maximum respect to the school authority
The healthcare system is failing and you really need to act fast and look into it it's not even funny,
Health first pleaseeeeee

I’m writing to express my frustration and concern about the state of our faculty. Every step we take here feels like a risk. We lose students every year, as if we’re renewing a ritual, and no one seems to care. No electricity, no proper hospital, no court facilities… and they call this the Faculty of Law? It feels like we’re not benefiting from anything.

Earlier this semester, I went to the school clinic in Ifetedo, with a friend who was not feeling well. The nurse told us to wait for the doctor without saying when he would be back, simply because my friend hadn’t completed her medical registration. In our presence, an indigene brought her child and the staff attended to the child immediately just because they knew each other, while we were ignored.

It feels like we’re just hoping for the future while paying to suffer. Students die every year, and we’re not even safe in our hostels. Reptiles enter our rooms, and the authorities only show interest when it’s time to collect fees. The school authority seems more concerned about stopping night parties than addressing these life-threatening issues. It’s not fair.

We still have many years to spend here, and are we going to continue like this without knowing who will be next? In this second semester alone, there have been 4–5 rituals around the student area. Another ritual was done last night, and a student died around midnight. When will this stop? Nobody knows.

💔😭 What if it was your own child? What if the student who reportedly lost her life was your daughter, sister, or loved one? 😢🥺 Would "we don't have the resources" be enough to ease your pain? 💔 Every parent sends their child to school with trust, hope, and prayers. 🙏🏽🤍 No family should lose a loved one because urgent medical care was unavailable. 😭🏥 Student welfare must always come first. 📚💔 My deepest condolences to her family and friends. 🕊️🤍 May her soul rest in perfect peace. 🕯️🕊️💔

Honestly this system really needs to be looked into, because what do you mean people have to go to ondo before they can get proper treatment. They are several times we go to clinic and either they ask us to buy paracetamol, drip, injection and all, very annoying place fr, you can be feeling so sick and they'll insist that you look for your file by yourself before they attend to you. I don't even think this clinic people stay in the place they just built for them.
I woke up to this news and it's so painful to hear, a person that did project defense on Tuesday, final year student. Honestly, a university should not be in this town if they cannot provide basic amenities for the students. No good hospital in the whole of ftd, it makes no sense. God help and keep us in Jesus name and may God comfort everyone especially her family, this is too painful.
This Napoleon Bonaparte style that Uniosun adopted doesn't pay us at all, God please have mercy on us.

Students die every year,it has become a normal thing in college of Law, ifetedo campus, osun State University.
We're being treated with the least care, we are students and we are paying to be here. The deceased would still have been with us if oxygen was provided.
The school clinic lacks common pure water, paracetamol and other petty thing.
we keep thinking who's going to be next, something has to be done.We do not deserve this kind of treatment.

The school clinic is just decoration lack of equipment even the ppl there aren't worthy to be called nurses we don't even have a doctor for God sake I remember the day I went there I was having malaria immediately I got there I was vomiting I needed water to wash my mouth they told me they don't have water common water oooo if not for my guy that was in arcade that I called to buy water for me
Even the campus as a whole sef imagine a whole college of law without good clinic even the whole of ifetedo no single standard hospital
So the money we're paying is for what??
Pay this pay that what are they using the money for???
When I wanted to do medical registration after paying on my portal the ppl at the clinic still ask me to bring money while coming
Where all our money dey go????

Osogbo Campus students are not the only ones paying school fees, so why are we suffering here? 💔
Can any of the school authorities’ children be here and still be happy? 🏫➡️🏠

An entire town without a clinic/hospital 🏥❌
If I may ask, why are we paying for medical fees on our portal without receiving treatment? 💻💸😡

They should first remove all those in the clinic and reach out to good doctors abeg. You can't tell me the school can't afford to pay good doctors.

Cause why is it indigenes that has no medical experience be the one to treat us

She’s a student of Criminology, faculty of liberal studies, College of law and liberal studies, Ifetedo campus. She’s not a law student.
Please Ifetedo students are dying, we don’t have functioning medical facilities (talk less of being good). We don’t have good network, to call in the case of emergency( we don’t have ambulance) a university campus for that mater ). motorcycle is the only means of transportation (which they chose to work and inflate prices whenever they like)
