The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has welcomed the decision of the management and Senate of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, to reinstate students who were previously suspended in connection with a student protest.

In a statement issued by the Zone D Coordinator, Comr. Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncodes), the student body described the development as a positive outcome of constructive dialogue, engagement, and mutual understanding among all parties involved.

The students were suspended on May 27, 2026, a decision that attracted concerns from NANS Southwest, which subsequently advocated for a review of the disciplinary measures. According to the association, the reinstatement demonstrates the university’s willingness to reassess the matter in the interest of justice, fairness, and the academic future of the affected students.

NANS Southwest commended the Vice-Chancellor, the University Management, and the Senate of LAUTECH for what it described as a responsive and thoughtful approach to the concerns raised by students and stakeholders.

The association also acknowledged the efforts of the Dean of Student Affairs and the National President of NANS, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (Babtee), for their contributions toward facilitating dialogue and fostering a peaceful resolution of the issue.

According to the organization, the decision to reinstate the students reflects the effectiveness of engagement and consultation as tools for resolving disputes within academic environments.

Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of students’ rights and welfare, NANS Southwest stated that the outcome further reinforces the importance of constructive dialogue, responsible leadership, and institutional responsiveness in addressing matters affecting students across tertiary institutions.
