The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has confirmed a harrowing series of human rights violations carried out against students by recently passed-out personnel of the Nigerian Army. Following a direct fact-finding mission and on-site assessment, the association has established that students were subjected to physical battery, harassment, and the forceful dispossession of their personal belongings.

In an official statement released by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), NANS described the incident as a "barbaric display of power" that has left the student community in shock and pain. The association has moved past the stage of investigation, declaring that the evidence of misconduct is undeniable.

The NANS Southwest leadership, during its visit to the scene, successfully documented overwhelming evidence of the assault. This includes video footage of the attacks, photographic evidence of physical injuries sustained by students, and recorded testimonies from victims.

The report confirms that the army personnel did not only assault students in public spaces but also invaded female hostels—a gross violation of privacy and security. Female students were subjected to degrading treatment, and several students had their mobile phones and other valuables confiscated by the personnel without cause.

"We are not here to negotiate on whether this happened; we are here to ensure those responsible pay for it," the statement read. NANS Southwest has laid down a non-negotiable list of demands for the Nigerian Army High Command:

  • Immediate Prosecution: All personnel involved in the documented assault must be identified and court-martialed or handed over to civil authorities for prosecution.
  • Recovery of Property: Every mobile phone and personal item stolen or confiscated from students must be returned immediately in the same condition they were taken.
  • Full Compensation: The Nigerian Army must provide full financial and medical compensation to every student who suffered physical or psychological harm.

The Zonal Coordinator has formally briefed the National President of NANS, escalating the matter as a national emergency. NANS Southwest has made it clear that while they have remained law-abiding, their patience is not infinite.

The association warned that if the Army High Command fails to act decisively within a stipulated timeframe, the student body will be forced to shut down major infrastructures in a series of massive, peaceful protests across the Southwest.

E-Signed:
Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES)
COORDINATOR, NANS Southwest (Zone D)
