NANS Southwest Secures Strategic Ministry of Defence Partnership to Expand Student Employment, Innovation and National Development
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has taken another significant step towards expanding opportunities for Nigerian students after forging a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Defence aimed at promoting employment, innovation, capacity development, and national growth.
The breakthrough followed a high-level courtesy visit by the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), and members of his delegation to the Director of Finance and Accounts, Ministry of Defence, Mr. Afolabi Idowu Omoniwa.
Receiving the delegation, Mr. Omoniwa commended the renewed direction of the student movement while acknowledging concerns over the activities of a few individuals whose actions had negatively affected the public image of NANS over the years.
Responding, Comrade Adeyemo assured the Ministry that the present National leadership of NANS under Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeez (BABTEE) remains committed to rebuilding the integrity, credibility, and honour of the association through responsible leadership and institutional reforms.
During the engagement, the Director disclosed that Nigeria has continued to make remarkable progress in local defence production through the innovation of young Nigerians, stressing that enormous opportunities exist for students and graduates to contribute to national technological advancement.
Comrade Adeyemo explained that one of the major objectives of the visit was to establish practical collaboration capable of addressing graduate unemployment by creating pathways into innovation, industrial development, and professional capacity building.
According to the Coordinator, stronger institutional partnerships remain one of the most effective approaches to preparing students for meaningful participation in Nigeria's economy.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Omoniwa officially accepted the proposal for collaboration with NANS Southwest and encouraged the student leadership to remain patriotic, disciplined, and exemplary.
NANS Southwest described the development as another milestone in its commitment to building sustainable partnerships that translate into real opportunities for Nigerian students and graduates.
